The original Hobby Lobby store was established in Oklahoma City in 1972 by David Green, a retail veteran. His goal was to create a specialty store for hobby enthusiasts, focusing primarily on arts and crafts. Their inventory included items like paint, yarn, artificial plants, and beads. This concept quickly gained popularity among residents of Oklahoma, resulting in the opening of seven more stores in the first ten years. In the following decades of the 1980s and 1990s, Hobby Lobby expanded its operations beyond Oklahoma, and today they boast an impressive 932 stores across the United States. Apart from their brick-and-mortar locations, Hobby Lobby also sells their products online. Unlike other retailers, they are open every day, except for Sundays. Over time, Hobby Lobby has diversified its inventory, now offering an extensive range of home décor, furnishings, party decorations, and baking supplies in addition to arts and crafts materials.
